Alright…this article has me a little confused. I am just talking out loud here, but a British company has said they are going to give women time off when they have their periods. As a woman who gets HORRIBLE cramps, at first this sounds like a dream.
Although here are my questions or issues
– Are bosses going to keep track of your cycle
– What about men? They don’t get their periods, but is there something they get instead?
As I read the article “period leave” is not about taking more time off but working more efficiently and flexibly around the menstrual cycle of female staff.
Apparently this has been welcomed by the entire staff, both genders.
Also, what happens when women sync up…because you know it happens!
As I write this, I realize that maybe I need to embrace change and have faith in people to not take advantage of the system. Perhaps it has been because, as a woman, I also felt cramps was not a reason to miss work. I feel like my cramps are horrible and I can barely stand, but maybe other women have it way worse and it requires them to take period leave.
Also…turns out that Nike also does this as well, so may it is a new age in the workplace.
