Ahead of her show Saturday night at the First Ontario Centre Carly Rae Jepsen joined me in studio to talk about the tour, her latest album Emotion, working on the Fuller House theme song and what is was like to be on the set of Grease Live. Oh, and since Saturday was Record Store Day she also dished on the one album that she can’t live without – if you loved girl bands in the 90’s, you’ll love her answer!
Her album Emotion was released back in August and made TIME, Rolling Stone, Complex, Cosmopolitans, Entertianment Weekly AND Billboard’s list of best albums of 2015. Jepsen explains that she was happy that it was received so well, but even happier that she was able to put out an album that she was proud of.
Oh, and while putting this album together she wrote 200 songs. 200!!! That’s crazy.
Of those 200 songs that Jepsen wrote, she collaborated with many different artists including the one and only Sia!! Now Sia is a very private person, but making music can be a very personal experience….
Jepsen also had a BUSY year – not only did she was headline her own tour for 7 months, she also sang the new theme song for Netflix’s Full house sequel, Fuller House AND starred as Frenchie in Fox’s production of Grease Live!
And since Saturday is Record Store Day, I had to ask, what is the one record you CAN’T live without!
