Ed Sheeran is facing a $20 million lawsuit!!
The suit alleges copyright infringement claiming he used another song as the basis for his hit “Photograph.” It was filed yesterday in Los Angeles by Martin Harrington and Tom Leonard, composers of the song “Amazing.”
“Amazing” was recorded and released as a single by Matt Cardle, winner of the 2010 season of “The X Factor.”
According to Harrington and Leonard, the chorus of Sheeran’s “Photograph” and Cardle’s “Amazing” share 39 identical notes. They also say the two songs utilize similar overall structures, melodic rhythms and harmonies.
Included in the court documents is a side-by-side comparison of the written composition of the songs.
Let’s compare though, shall we.
Check out both songs back to back…
So what do you think? In my opinion, there’s no question – the songs sound almost identical to me.
