BLACK ice cream? Yeah, it’s a thing now.
Morgernstern’s Finest Ice Cream shop in NYC makes black ice cream with a special ingredient you’ve probably never tried before: coconut ash!
I have never tried coconut ash before nor had I ever even heard of it before, so I’m intrigued.
Coconut ash is the charred and processed remains of a coconut. It’s another form of activated charcoal and is apparently good for you because of its detoxifying powers.
So what does the black ice cream taste like? Well, coconuts. Especially since the ash is combined with with coconut flakes, coconut cream, and coconut milk.

So, black ice cream is (somewhat) good for you, probably tastes good and looks really cool – but there’s a downside. Eating it turns your entire tongue, mouth and teeth black. Not good for date night.
