The Perseid Meteor show is expected to be the best show the night sky will offer all year and I couldn’t be more excited!!
The meteor shower will reach it’s peak between Thursday night and Friday morning. On average a shower is about 60 meteors per hour, but it looks like this year they’re predicting 100 plus meteors an hour, possibly even more!!
The phenomenon occurs when “the Swift-Tuttle comet goes around the sun, leaving a trail of dust. While in space the dust shifts and moves.”
Best time to see the meteors is after midnight Aug. 11, after the moon has gone down, but you will still be able to see meteors all night and through the early morning on Aug. 12.
Plus the’re saying that you can catch the show on Instagram as @NASA will live stream the show!!
