This has to be Sia’s most powerful piece yet.
The singer/songwriter/artist released the video for her new song ‘The Greatest’ on YouTube yesterday, and it’s a tribute to the victims of the Orlando shooting at Pulse Nightclub where 49 people were killed.
The song also features Kendrick Lamar, but only Sia’s part is heard in the video.
Starring in the video is Maddie Ziegler, the Dance Moms alum who received international attention after starring in Sia’s video for ‘Chandelier’. This is their fourth video collaboration.
The video also features many teenagers and children. Ziegler is seen dancing with dozens of other kids in a broken-down house as she leads them out of a jail cell and tries to escape with them.
One of the teens in the video, 16-year-old dancer Matt Moseley, wrote about being a part of the project on Instagram with a photo confirming the video’s ties to the shooting in Orlando.
As we usually see with Sia’s videos, it’s full of interesting and amazing choreography, emotion, lots of symbolism and striking sets. As always, the video doesn’t include Sia (aside from her voice, singing the song).
Get ready to cry some rainbow tears, because this video is VERY emotional.
