As first reported by the CBC, the federal government plans to announce legislation next month that will legalize the recreational use of marijuana by Canada Day, 2018.
According to this new report, the national age limit to purchase pot will be set at 18 years old but provinces will be able to set that age higher if they see fit.
Provinces will also control price, how marijuana is bought and sold. Canadians wishing to grow their own marijuana will be limited to four plants per household. A formal announcement is expected April 10.
