I think it is safe to say MOST people have Netflix in 2017. And for some, it has actually replaced cable in their household. I know it has in mine.
But with that being said, THIS might change some people’s minds.
It was being reported that this weekend in Australia, Netflix is running a secret experiment that will charge users more money to sign up for Netflix during prime binge watching hours.
According to the site Mashable, “Netflix is running a test that saw customers pay up to 20 percent more when they signed up to the service on the weekend. The test will increase “the basic service from $8.99 to $9.99 a month, the standard service from $11.99 to $13.99 a month and the premium service from $14.99 to $17.99 a month.”
Netflix then went on to explain themselves: “We continuously test new things at Netflix and these tests typically vary in length of time. In this case, we are testing slightly different price points to better understand how consumers value Netflix. Not everyone will see this test and we may not ever offer it generally. Reports that we are testing “weekend-only” pricing are inaccurate and entirely false. As our statement clearly states, this testing varies in length and time and the fact that some members saw this test on a weekend is completely unrelated. This test is limited to Australia only.”
So it looks like “weekend pricing” isn’t a “thing” however, we could be seeing price adjustments in the near future.
