What an amazing story for these two Jeopardy contestants! Love was definitely in the air when they appeared on the game show in October of 2013.
Teachers Maryanne Lewell and Michael Townes actually got married earlier this month (July 7). They met while competing in the annual Jeopardy! Teachers Tournament about four years ago.
Lewell, a fellow Canadian from New Brunswick, and Townes from South Carolina, connected in the studio’s green room while awaiting their turn!
And at the time, both were single, ready to mingle and fell for each other!!
After 4 years and trips back and forth to each other, they finally tied the knot. Maryanne plans to join her new husband and his two children in South Carolina, once she figures out her immigration paperwork and teaching credential transfer.
Alex Trebek unfortunately had to decline the RSVP to their wedding BUT sent them a nice email: “My congratulations to the couple. Although Maryanne and Michael are not the first couple to have met at ‘Jeopardy’ and gone on to be married, they participated in one of our best Teachers Tournaments.”
Together everyone: Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
