As we enter into September, and fall is right around the corner… patio season is coming to an end!
Did you make the most of patio season this year?
Here is a list of some well-known, as well as some lesser-known local Hamilton patios worth checking out before it gets too cold outside. Grab a pen and paper and start making a list of ones to visit!
Located at 1491 Main St E, if you’re looking to get a great pizza and beer and enjoy it on a patio with friends look no further than Aceti’s. Their patio isn’t huge, it holds around 20-30 people, but if you can get a spot you’ll be enjoying some good old fashioned pizza and plenty of sunshine. They also sell burgers, wings, and pasta. their famous homemade lasagna is only $11 on Tuesdays. Click here for their other specials.
2. Aout & About
Located at 21 Augusta St, they have 6 import and 6 domestic taps with a patio holding about 40 people. Great spot for wings and beer on a hot sunny day.
3. August 8
All you can eat sushi? August 8 is the place to go. 1066 Upper James St. 10 domestic taps. Their patio holds about 40 people and fills up fast, arrive early!

Located at 17 Augusta St., The Augusta House was established in 2010 and offers an enjoyable atmosphere and great food. There’s also a variety of daily specials. $11 Gourmet Poutines on Monday, $12 gourmet burger platters on Tuesdays, wine deal on Wednesdays (9oz @ 6oz price), $6 matinis on Thursdays, and more. They have a summer special on right now, 2lb of wings for $39.95+tax.
5. Anchor Bar
A massive rooftop patio overlooking King Street. Great spot for wings!
If breathtaking, panoramic lake views are high on your list of patio must-have’s, Baranga’s On The Beach has that in spades along with flavourful Mediterranean dishes, cocktails, sangria and ice cold martinis. Their patio is massive, and has premium as well as domestic taps. Located at 380 Van Wagner’s Beach Rd. A staple in the Hamilton community, if you haven’t been there you should go now!
If you’re looking for delicious, classic Italian food, look no further than Barbara Caffe. Located at 387 Barton St. E., their patio isn’t overlooking scenic views… but it’s the food that makes this place so well known in Hamilton! They have import beer, and a full menu on the patio. Fresh ingredients, locally sourced produce, friendly service. Check out their lunch menu, and if you can’t make it out to their patio… order catering to your office!
Beasley’s has a great location at 95 Locke St. S. with a patio that seats up to 30. Lots of beer options, with 35 Taps including micro-brew. It was not only the first building on Locke Street, but was the very first bar on Locke Street as well! The building is the historic homesite of Richard Beasley, an United Empire Loyalist, prominent politician and a founding father of the City of Hamilton.

A new restaurant on Locke St, and now with a cute patio they call Bev’s Backyard!
10. Black Forest Inn
With authentic Austrian, German and Continental cuisine, the Black Forest Inn’s is a really interesting spot. They have a cozy “Biergarten” patio in Hamilton’s International Village. If you do go here, make sure to try their famous schnitzel and European beers!
11. Brux House
Located at 137 Locke St. S, this patio holds around 20 people. Brux House is known for having the best of craft beer and ciders, spirited cocktails and exciting wines. Food is paired with traditional and innovative beer styles from an extensive bottle and tap list of local and imported brews.

12. Cavallo Nero
Located at 370 Wilson St. E. in Ancaster, this patio has live music 4 nights a week. Check out their menu. Lunch ranges from $10-14.
13. Che Burrito
Located at 38 Hess St. S, they have a small patio but if you’re craving mexican food – it’s worth coming down to Che! Burritos by day, live music and parties by night. Kitchen open till 10. Check out their menu. Tuesdays are $3 mixed drinks, Wednesdays are $3 domestics.

This laid-back, modern hangout offers pub grub, a full bar & garage doors opening to a patio. Located at 33 King St. W. Large patio.
Eating at Collins is a really cool experience, since it’s located in a historical building. Just look at how beautiful the building is!
15. The French
A new restaurant in downtown Hamilton, this one is one not to be missed! Beautiful brand new patio, great food selection. From the same group that brought you Aberdeen Tavern and The Dundurn Market.
16. George Hamilton
The George Hamilton is a well-known spot, located near First Ontario Centre. The restaurant has two patios, one along the side by the sidewalk, and an elevated one in the back part of the building. Located at 152 King St. W. Check out their menu.
17. Jack & Lois
If you haven’t been to Jack and Lois’ patio yet, you’re in for a treat! This James Street North icon is known for its eclectic dining experience, creative and delicious menu, and a wide selection of craft beers and cocktails. Their patio is accessible from Barton Street.

18. Jet Cafe
If you’re looking for all-day breakfast and have a craving for eggs and bacon… Jet Cafe to the rescue! Located at 184 King St E. it has a small patio, but the food is delicious! The menu starts at only $2.95, they have fair trade coffee and 30 varieties of tea.
In the heart of Hamilton’s Hess Village this massive patio offers an elegant yet casual asian inspired dining experience. Enjoy a nice selection of food, specialty drinks, beers and wine. They also now have a noodle bar! 27 Hess St. S.
Located at 60 Walnut St. S., La Cantina has a casual as well as upscale dining experience.
21. Mattson And Co.
A great patio to check out! Gorgeous food creations. They offer a casual but elegant restaurant serving lunch, dinner & weekend brunch, plus live jazz & blues on Fridays & Saturdays. 225 Locke St. S.
22. The Masque Wine Bar
If you like jazz, then check out The Masque! A wine jazz bar at 13 Hess St. S.

23. Merit Brewing
Proudly brewing and making sausage at 107 James Street North, this brewing company has a good sized patio where they serve up to 10 of their own beers, cider, as well as wine. If you like unique beer, this is a must visit!

On Two – our new Double IPA hits the Bottle Shop and Taproom today! Double dry hopped with a ton of Motueka, Mosiac, and Amarillo for huge pineapple, peach, and passionfruit flavour and aromatics. If you’re a coffee drinker, you probably already know about the famous Mulberry Coffeehouse in Hamilton. They have a nice outdoor patio to enjoy your coffee while working away on your laptop. And if you’re not a coffee drinker, don’t worry… they also serve beer!

25. NàRoma Pizza Bar
Located on beautiful Locke Street (215 Locke St. S.) Naroma serves delicious pizzas. Their patio is small, so arrive early! They visit local farmers markets and have longstanding relationships with vendors to get the finest and freshest ingredients in everything they make. Yum!

27. Pheasant Plucker
If you’re looking for a traditional pub, definitely check out the Pheasant Plucker – great food, and great service. 20 Augusta St. They have a small, but nice patio right on Augusta Street. Lots of beer taps, both domestic and import.
28. The Powerhouse
Located at 21 Jones St., Stoney Creek, The Powerhouse has a very large patio and a lot of beer taps to choose from. The restaurant is also located in a gorgeous, historic building.
Radius has a gorgeous fenced-in patio on two levels! Hand-crafted cocktails, an innovative menu that focuses on all things local, you can’t go wrong with Radius. There is also an outdoor waterfall! This hotspot in Hamilton fills up fast, so arrive early! Beer selection is quite large, with craft beers, domestic, and imports.

31. Rousseau House
Tucked away at 375 Wilson St. E. in Ancaster, Rousseu House has a really unique patio space. The patio extends from a beautiful Victorian stone manor. Taste Of Hamilton ranked it one of the Top 10 patios to visit this summer!
32. The Ship
The Ship, one of my favourite patios in Hamilton! Located at 23 Augusta St, they have a patio in the front as well as the back (the back patio is like a backyard oasis!). Lots of craft beers to enjoy… but most importantly, massive hand-made burgers that are to die for!
33. Shoeless Joe’s
A newcomer to Hamilton’s Upper James Street (1183 Upper James St.), Shoeless Joe’s is a known chain of restaurants, and they have built a massive upper floor patio in the back of their new building as well as a smaller patio on the ground level. It has a lot of beer on tap, and a great ‘sports bar’ type atmosphere.
34. Southcote 53
Southcote 53 just recently renovated their patio! The new patio is much larger and looks amazing! 534 Garner Rd. E. in Ancaster
Stonewalls has a large patio at 339 York Blvd. They have a modern menu with a focus on gourmet meals served alongside traditional comfort foods.
36. Ye Olde Squire
Ye Olde Squire is a Hamilton tradition! If you haven’t been to one of their new locations, be sure to add it to your list! Their Main Street location is also next door to the radio station!
